O.D.I.W.G. is an affiliate of the Injured Workers Outreach Services, the Ontario Network of Injured Workers Groups and the Canadian Injured Worker Alliance.
ODIWG has been operating in the Ottawa area since 1995. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to assist injured workers and their families in seeking: Justice; dignity; equality; and to promote the proper health, safety and security of injured workers in the workplace. We provide resources and education, to assist injured workers in dealing with workers compensation (W.S.I.B.), injured workers rights, and training. We hold a regular meeting on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM. September through June to discuss injured worker issues with other injured workers and advocates. Our clients are from the geographical area known previously as Ottawa-Carleton, the new boundaries of the City of Ottawa, west to Carleton Place and western Quebec in the new city boundaries of Gatineau for workers living in Quebec but working in Ontario.

The Worker’s Request
Unfurl our country’s greatest symbol Of sanctuary and calm And let the flag be lifted By strong and callused palm.
Let her mourn us The workers Whose labours brought them death For the wind brings our visit And we rise to salute her yet.
Send forth your heart’s greatest tributes. For us Who have crossed that final gate Then recollect that the smiles Which overcame the impossible task Were smiles made of faith
Forever remember too That the workers sing the nations purest song And when you gather to honour them Unfurl our country’s greatest symbol Of sanctuary and calm

IMPORTANT EVENTS

day of Mourning for workers killed on the job. Information regarding Day of Mourning events in the Ottawa area will be posted here as it becomes available.
O.D.I.W.G. needs your help!
We do not have a large budget as all of our work is done on a volunteer basis. We do not charge any fees to injured workers to assist them. Local non-profit organizations can also use us for reference and resource material, and direct assistance, counselling to either injured workers or through their representative. If your organization could assist us financially in any way it would be much appreciated, office or computer supplies, even a small donation will help pay for stamps or photocopier paper. We thank you in advance for your generosity. Note: Make cheques payable to the Ottawa and District Injured Workers Group.
